Location: Apartment Complex, VirginiaLoss: Sewer Pipe FailureSolution: Expertise in Mold Mitigation Eliminates Health HazardRolyn's Emergency Services team responded to an apartment complex that had been damaged by spillage from the plumbing system. The backup from the pipes was classified as "Black Water" due to the presence of sewage and other contaminants. "Black Water" is highly unsanitary and can cause serious illness. Rolyn began by clearing the waste and draining the pipes. A sewer line imaging camera revealed that the waste pipes on the first floor had deteriorated due to age. The emergency crew performed a rapid clean up and decontamination of the affected property. During the cleanup, significant mold growth was discovered. Rolyn's mold restoration technicians were summoned to the project to handle the demolition and remediation. Due to the severity of the mold growth, affected units had to be entirely gutted. During this process, the job was complicated by the discovery of asbestos in the drywall compound. Rolyn's certified asbestos removal contractors were called to the job to handle the abatement. Once the demolition and clean up was complete, Rolyn coordinated with the property owner's hygienist who deemed the property free of contaminants. A complete scope of reconstruction work was then developed between Rolyn's estimators and the property representatives. Forty-one apartment units were fully renovated and reconstructed over a six-month period. |
